Concept Boards

Before motion there is concept and design

This work represents my design, illustrative, and conceptual work that goes into creating Style Frames or Pitch Boards to convey concepts and design direction used to win work and clients. Some great concepts that never made it, and some that evolved into great animation pieces.

Problem:

Getting producers, clients, the client’s client, editors, and brother in law all on the same page. Understanding what the core look and feel of the package will be, from fonts, color schemes, design systems to motion direction and pacing.

Solution:

Listen carefully to the needs of the client and their particular design problem space. Evaluate budget constraints, time constraints, approval process, branding goals, and project goals. Take pencil to paper, sketch, sketch more, develop pixel perfect ideas, throwaway most of those ideas, sketch again, then start developing what will be come the source for your concept boards and hope you listened to your client at the very beginning.

Responsibilities:

  • Concept
  • Design
  • Illustration
